The Introduction to Ageing, Death, Dying and Bereavement course is designed to provide the lay counsellor and
caregiver with an integrative understanding of ageing, terminal Illness, death, dying and bereavement.
The course introduces the basic theory of ageing and practice of the care and counselling of aging individuals and the terminally ill. The course also deals with death and dying, grief, and the grieving process.
The course provides pastors and lay counsellors with the theory and tools to care for and provide counselling for seniors and those dealing with the losses in life in the local church and/or a community.

Course Outcomes:

  1. Describe the process of ageing and the losses of life
  2. Minster to and do counselling with the elderly and their families from a pastoral and lay-counselling perspective
  3. Conceptualise death and dying and counsel and minister to the terminally ill
  4. Demonstrate understanding of the concept of grief and do bereavement counselling
