Job Opening: Contract Lecturer (Counselling Team) (APPLICATIONS CLOSED)

Do you feel called to join a dynamic team of Christian counselling lecturers? The South African Theological Seminary (SATS), is currently recruiting for a contract lecturer in the counselling team. The counselling lecturer team is a remarkable team of men and women with diverse skills and gifts, sharing wisdom and knowledge, holding one another accountable, and working hard to ensure that students answer the call on their lives in the Christian counselling space. 

All our training and lecturing takes place online. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lecture a compliment of students according to SATS standards. 
  • Support co-lecturers in the counselling courses. 
  • Log in the course daily and respond to student queries. 
  • Communicate actively and proactively on the course forum to maintain teaching presence and ensure that the students are clear about the course requirements. 
  • Monitor the progress of students and intervene to assist at-risk students. 
  • Assess assignments, portfolios, and examinations, offer occasional live lectures, and encourage students on their path towards becoming a Christian counsellor of excellence. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Minimum of an accredited honour’s degree in theology. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of counselling/psychology training/studies and 2 years in counselling practice. 
  • Experience working on online platforms and with MS Office (Outlook, Word etc.). 
  • Team player who takes initiative, is friendly, service orientated, has a strong work ethic and willing to go the extra mile. 
  • Able to work remotely with colleagues in different locations, in a multicultural diverse environment. 
  •  Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision. 
  •  Has a heart and passion for God and ministry and committed to spiritual disciplines.
