Senior Management

Dr. Reuben van Rensburg
Reuben holds a D.Th. from the University of Zululand. Before being appointed at SATS, Reuben served in the Department of Education for 25 years, eventually being responsible for the policy development of Religious Education at a national level. In 2000 he was appointed as the Vice-Principal of SATS and has served as its Principal and CEO since 2006. He has been a speaker at several national and international conferences. He is passionately concerned about the lack of a Biblical worldview amongst Christians and about ministering to children.
Dr. Kevin Smith
Head of Academics
D.Litt., Ph.D.
Kevin, who is the Head of Academics l of SATS, obtained his first doctorate from Stellenbosch University and his Ph.D. from SATS. He has a deeply insightful approach to theology and has already made a significant contribution in his relatively short career.
Mrs. Jenny Mason
Projects Director
D.B.S., B.Th.
Jenny was a member of the original team that started SATS. She has worked at SATS for 20 years and currently holds the position of Projects Director. Prior to that she worked in the corporate world. She has a BTh.
Mr. Doug Timberlake
General Manager
B.Comm., M.B.A., BTh Hons
Doug is a member of the SATS Board (since July 2005). He joined the SATS staff in July 2015. Doug has a B.Com (University of KwaZulu-Natal) and a MBA (University of the Witwatersrand. He has many years of corporate and entrepreneurial business experience both locally and abroad.

Head of Research
Johannes did his formal theological training at the University of Stellenbosch. He specialised in Old Testament Studies and evaluated medieval Jewish Bible commentaries for his doctorate which was partially done at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Willem, who has a Practical Theology, currently holds the position of Head of the Undergraduate School of SATS. He has lectured at a various universities and colleges. Willem has written a number of academic articles and presented papers at various conferences.

Dr. Bill Domeris
Senior Academic
Bill obtained his doctorate from Durham University. He is one of the most widely published theological scholars in Africa, especially in the field of Biblical Studies, where he has made substantial contributions at international level.
Dr. Zoltan Erdey
Senior Academic Advisor
Zoltan is the Head of Academic Quality Assurance at SATS. He holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (SATS). His academic interests also include, inter alia, parable interpretation and apologetics.
Prof. Dan Lioy
Senior Research Manager
Dan completed his doctoral studies at North-West University. He is widely published and has a particular interest in intertextuality between the testaments, Biblical ethics and spiritual care in professional settings. Dan has extensive experience in tertiary education and a passion for scholarly excellence.
Mr. Mathieu Pelletier
eLearning Support
Apart from his IT skills, Mathieu has a B.A. Biblical Studies and Master’s in both Old Testament and Biblical Languages. From 2006, he worked for the Theological College of Zimbabwe as a lecturer in the Biblical Studies Department and was also their Director of IT Development.

Mr. Felix Kantonda
Originally from the Congo, Félix has served since 2006 as the Associate Pastor and Sunday School Director of Bellevue Baptist Church. As well as being a course supervisor for SATS, he is responsible for translation of courses into the French language.

Student Counsellor
Bev has taught in secular education for about twenty five years (mainly Biology) and has worked for both Trans World Radio and Radio Pulpit. She has an M.Th. in Practical Theology, and has published a number of family oriented books. Bev’s Special joy is in training women and youth (especially where marginalised) and their carers/mentors – both males and females.

United States Representative
Kelly completed his Master’s studies at Biola/Talbot, and in 2015 he received his Ph.D. in theology from the South African Theological Seminary. He is the representative of SATS in the United States.
