20 INCREDIBLE YEARS!

A brief look back on the last two decades, and some of the recent activity at the Seminary.

GIVING GOD THE GLORY FOR 20 INCREDIBLE YEARS

As we come to the close of 2016 – the year of our 20th anniversary and “20 years of God’s grace and favour”, it has indeed been a monumental time.  Every month we have marked the occasion with a special event, which has involved all our staff.  We stand in awe at what has been accomplished since our humble beginnings in 1996. INTERVIEW WITH AN EXPERT ON ISLAM

SATS recently hosted Australian pastor and scholar in linguistics and theology, and an expert on Islam, Mark Durie, in South Africa. Mark’s visit in part was to introduce SATS’ new course on Islam. CELEBRATING OUR STUDENTS’ STORIES!

Our students and alumni never cease to amaze us in the application of their studies and the gospel in the space that God has placed them. Several of their stories can be read in SATS’ 20th Digital Anniversary Book, which we compiled to celebrate our 20 Years of God’s Grace and Favour.

NEW UNDERGRADUATE COURSE ON ISLAM

SATS has recently added an elective third year course on Islam to its BTh programme. As missional Christians in the twenty-first century we must understand Islam. We must understand Islam globally, but we must also reflect on the form and expression of Islam in our local context. We need to engage constructively with Islam, discerning through the leading of the Holy Spirit how to both love Muslims and oppose Islamization.

MAKING INROADS IN SAN ANTONIO, TX

Last week, SATS again exhibited at the two leading US-based conferences on Christian higher education in San Antonio, Texas, that of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) and the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL).

There, Kelly Larson, SATS’ representative in the USA, and Dr Reuben van Rensburg met up with our American counterparts, built relationships and hopefully attracted many would-be students to come and study with us. We believe that we are optimally positioned for them to do so.
